Biographical
Details
Chris has been playing the guitar since he was about 15.
That was some time ago. During the 1970's he played with several Brighton
bands including the legendary but short lived 'Tropical Boot Co.',
whose mix of rock and reggae proved to be somewhat ahead of its time.
He grew up in Brighton during the 1960s blues boom and in the mid 70's discovered Reggae in a
big way. This background had a big influence on his playing style.
Chris has developed an eclectic taste in music, which is reflected in the Hatters
sound. His cd collection is wide ranging, from Robert Johnson to Joe
Satriani and Captain Beefheart to Lee Perry.
Chris is a Chartered Engineer by profession but this does not
interfere too much with his main interests in life, which,
apart from music, include drinking wine, exploring the Greek Islands,
photography and Drag Racing. During the late 80's and early 90's he
combined the latter two interests and was a regular figure in the press
area at Santa Pod Raceway. He has had over 100 of his drag racing
photographs published, in such magazines as Street Machine, Drag Racing
News, Motorcycle News, and The Sun, as well as local papers. You can see some of these pictures

Keeping a band going is, in many ways, no different to running any other
business and, as well as playing guitar with the Hatters, Chris develops and maintains
the web site, designs and organises the posters, organises demo cds.
Chris lives in Etchingham with a very tolerant wife and
no television.
